Courtesy of my sociology course I would like to argue that the gems are sexless not genderless. Sex referring to biology, which to my understanding gems don’t have. Gender on the other hand is a mental construct that gets conflated (I think that’s the word) with Sex. Err... not that I’m trying to nitpick, I still like the post and the dialogue made me chuckle.
